I remember as a kid sitting around in a home Bible study group and reading the Bible for what seemed like hours at a time.

Truth be told, the longest reading sessions probably only lasted an hour, but as a kid, it felt like an eternity. It wasn’t that I didn’t like reading, nor that I was bored. It’s just that as a kid, well, there were a few more exciting things to do in the evenings than sit around reading the Bible. I had my own full Bible given to me as a gift. It was the whole thing, from Genesis to Revelation. I read it, when in a group or at church. But when I alone, there was another Bible that captivated me, and had me reading even when there were more exciting things to do in my spare time. If given the task, most of us would have a really difficult time organizing the Bible in chronological order. Our diagram would probably look like a poorly made spider’s web.
