Chuck Missler Genesis 5 – He challenged me and I challenge you

The Bible is clear on how to treat what you hear, on how to treat ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you hear.

The Bible says… CHECK it out to MAKE SURE it’s true.

  • If it sounds fishy, check it out to clarify if it’s really true.
  • If it sounds good, check it out to confirm that it’s true.
  • If it sounds too good to be true, check it out to verify that it’s true.
  • If it’s Chuck Missler Genesis 5, check it out to make sure it’s true
    • and I know that he himself would agree, as he often reminded his audience “Don’t believe me”

There are two verses from Scripture that highlight MY responsibility with respect to what I hear and what I learn and what I accept as true:

  • “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” 1 Thessalonians 5:21(ESV)
  • “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:11 (ESV)

Chuck Missler – his passion for the Scriptures impacted my life

When I heard the message by Chuck Missler on Genesis chapter 5 some years ago, he really challenged me with the information he presented. To be honest, I did not believe it could be true, and it definitely felt like one of those “too good to be true” moments. But I responded to the challenge, and checked it out for myself. What I found was a fascinating gem just waiting to be discovered. Now I am challenging you to do the same, check it out. I think you will be left with your mouth wide open, just as I was, when you realize what you have discovered.

Listening to Chuck Missler’s messages on the Bible in 24 hours in 2010 reinvigorated my passion for deeper Bible study. While his engaging presentation captivated me, it was his nack for picking up little details and analyzing them that impressed me. Sadly, Chuck Missler passed away on May 1, 2018. I can just imagine what hidden treasures his inquisitive mind is discovering in heaven.

Printable PDF – Genesis 5 worksheet

Before taking on this challenge, please download and print this Genesis 5 PDF worksheet. The worksheet will serve as a template for you to write down what you are learning in this chapter.

Print off THREE copies. You will need one to use while you read the article, and one to use while you listen to the presentation. Then you will need one more, while you go at it and complete the challenge that I am going to leave you.

Before you go on, I also encourage you to read Genesis chapter 5. You may have already read it in the past, but I encourage you to read it right now before you go on. Don’t skip anything and let what you are reading sink in. You can download a printable PDF of Genesis 5 reading sheet. Use it to read the chapter and then you can use it to follow along, and make notes and markings in the spaces provided.

Read the Chuck Missler article

With your printable PDF Genesis 5 worksheet in hand, go to the article Hidden Message – The Gospel in Genesis written by Chuck Missler.

As you read through the article, take notes and fill in the chart with whatever information you feel needs to be included. If you need to read it more than once, take the time to do it.

After finishing this part of the study, take a few moments to ponder what you have just read.

Watch the Chuck Missler teaching

Now that you have read the teaching, take a few minutes to watch a video presentation by Chuck Missler on the same subject. He goes through the ten names in Genesis 5 as a part of the 15-minute message: Hidden Treasures in Genesis – Chuck Missler; the genealogy study starts at the 5-minute mark (the first 5 minutes of the video have some interesting tidbits too, and are worth listening to, if you have the time).

As you listen to the presentation, take notes and fill in the Genesis 5 worksheet with whatever information you feel needs to be included. If you need to watch it more than once, take the time to do it.

Once you finish this part of the study, take a few minutes to ponder what you have just watched.

My challenge to you – check it out and see if it’s true

Put away the article by Chuck Missler, and shut down the YouTube video by Chuck Missler.

Now, open up your Bible, and open up your Bible dictionary. Grab your pen, and your last Genesis 5 worksheet, and get to work. Look up the definition of each of the 10 names from Adam to Noah. Find as much information as you can in order to come up with the most accurate significance possible for each name.

It might take you a few minutes, or it might even take you a few hours. And even if it takes you a few days, don’t worry about it. Once you finish the challenge, take a few minutes to ponder what you have just finished studying.

Please come back and leave us a comment of your reaction to this challenge.

  1. Thank you for sharing this message.  Chuck Missler must have been a great man to inspire so many people.

The message you give here about checking out everything and making sure it is true can be applied to all you learn in life including online.

So often we have heard ‘if it’s too good to be true……’ but how often to we just blindly follow?

    1. You got that right. The principle of checking it out works for all aspects of life. The sad thing is that the world is filled with fraudsters trying to deceive you into thinking it’s all good,, then when you’ve trusted them and taken the plunge you find out that it’s not what it claimed to be.

Thankfully the Word of God has been put to the test for centuries and has been proven to be trustworthy. Some people take about walking by blind faith… I prefer to walking in confident faith.

  2. This seems like a great challenge! The concept behind here I think is to learn to follow instructions, as we learn. Another challenge I’m getting from your post is that names have meaning behind them.

In my background, this is easily understandable because we give names to children according to the prevailing circumstances. These names as noted here, have meaning according to how they are presented in the bible. Enoch, for example walked with God uprightly until he was no more. That’s why his Hebrew name means ‘dedicated’.

Thank you for your detailed and informative article. I will bookmark it so that I may find more time to go through all those details.

    1. Thank you for sharing that note about your background and how you choose names for the children.

Many people think that the Bible is some otherworldly book with traditions and customs that are from a by-gone era. When I moved to Nicaragua, I was fascinated by how some of the cultural traditions in this country mirrored biblical ones, and actually helped me to understand certain events and teachings. The people of the Bible were real people and did things the way many around the world still do them.

  3. Great read!

I agree 100%, we need to check out everything we read and hear to make sure it’s true. Much more when it comes to what the Bible really teaches because many people are being deceived into believing what their leaders teach without checking it out themselves if what’s being said is true.

I like Chuck Missler too, in fact I have a copy of his book “Learn the Bible in 24 Hours.” Oh, and did you say he has gone home to be with the Lord 6 months ago? He’ll be missed here not only by his family but by those who are following his discoveries of biblical facts, myself included.

So I just opened my Bible to Genesis 5 which gives us the family line of Adam to Noah. I also downloaded the printable worksheet and I am excited to begin this challenge. Thank you and God bless!

    1. I actually found out about Chuck Missler’s death while preparing this post. I had heard that his health was deteriorating and you could see it in some of his later interviews that he was getting weaker. He will be missed for sure. Thankfully he left us a lot to chew on with his inquisitive analysis of the Scriptures.

Glad to hear you have the book “Learn the Bible in 24 hours”. An excellent stimulating summary.

Please stop by and comment after you finish the challenge. I look forward to hearing what you discovered.

      God bless.
